Game One goes to WSA Winnipeg

Wolf Pack edge Wesmen 2 to 1

August 23, 2013

Last night’s game at Winnipeg Soccer Complex between WSA Winnipeg and the University of Winnipeg Wesmen ended in a 2 - 1 victory for the Wolf Pack. The Wesmen fielded a strong squad as they are preparing for their second season in the CIS Western Conference.

Four players from the WSA Winnipeg 2013 PDL roster, Jordan Smith, Kristjan Nordman, Ryan Ramjiawan and Eric Smith along with PDL leading Keeper Tyson Farago now play with the U of W squad. Proof that WSA Winnipeg PDL Wolf Pack are making exciting inroads in the development of footballers in Winnipeg.

Mustafa Ali had scored early in the first half to give the young Academy side the lead. WSA played a side that featured a number of their brightest up and coming young players such as Justin Foderado and Mathew Thompson together with seasoned PDL vets like Moses Danto and Ali Musse.  Coach Eduardo Badescu had his young team play a patient ball possession game.  The tactic paid off for the Wolfpack. First year PDL players Kyle Hiebert, Jiyu Iida, Hamza Mustpha and Paul DelGrosso showed their maturity when called on to play 90 minutes.

PDL Central Division All Conference striker Moses Danto scored in the 80th minute to put the Academy team ahead after the Wesmen's Ross Pinhammer had tied the game in the78th minute.

The two teams will meet again at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex on Waverley on August 28th at 4:30 pm to complete the two game series. Don’t miss it!
