November 12, 2003

Winnipeg, Manitoba -- The Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) soccer season ended this past weekend with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds winning another Men’s title defeating Laval Rouge et Or 3 - 1. Sunday’s victory in Fredericton gave the T-Birds their 13th Canadian Championship. Host university the University of New Brunswick won the the Bronze medal game over York Lions 1- 0. In Women’s CIS action Trinity Western Spartans beat University of Montreal Carabins 1 - 0 to win gold.

The USL PDL works closely with NCAA and CIS programs to ensure university footballers have a competitive and professional environment to play in during the spring and summer months. Five players from the 2013 WSA Winnipeg team played with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen this fall. Keeper Tyson Farago, defenders Jordan Smith, Eric Smith and Kristjan Nordman and midfielder Ryan Ramjiawan all played significant minutes for the Wesmen  in the CIS Canada West Conference. The Wesmen improved its win loss record  in their second season of playing at  the CIS level from 2 wins in 2012 to 5 wins this season and our WSA boys were a big part of that improvement. WSA Coach Eduardo Badescu was seen at all of the Wesmen home games and a number of  Wesmen players will be seen playing for the Wolves again in  the 2014 Heartland Division of the USL PDL.

Congratulations Wolves you did WSA proud!
